Stardew Valley... To Make A Better World?
Stardew Valley's Relation to Gee's Principles:

Identity: In Stardew Valley, players are able to get a sense of identity from the start through many customizable options of the character creator. Since the character is moving onto a new life on a farm in the game, that gives players even more of a sense of a new life that they have control over building.
Interaction: Players are allowed a strong sense of interaction between themselves in the game when they have control over their environment in a game like Stardew Valley. It allows the progress made in-game to be up to the player.
Production: This is another principle that holds a large weight in the game, as the money and farming mechanics revolve around the players ability to grow their own crops and complete tasks for in-game money.
Agency: Players have control over the look and feel of their farm, house, and relationships with npc to some degree.
Well-ordered problems: To begin the game, players have a choice of farm, each with different benefits and drawbacks. Players are forced to learn how to use their time in each day wisely, as well as their resources to overcome and decide how to best use their time.
Just in Time or On Demand: When starting the game, I was frustrated with how quickly I ran out of energy and was forced to sleep. But after successfully growing my first crops and using those as an energy source, I learned the importance of crops and the game continued to reward you with what you need as you learn its mechanics.
Performance Before Competence: Before you can do very much in Stardew Valley, you are faced with goals to complete that teach you how to play the game. Only then can you really start to build up your farming repertoire.
